Nifty ends at 7671, Sensex rises 348 pts; BHEL, Bharti gainers --- 11 April 2016

The Sensex was up 348.32 points or 1.4 percent at 25022.16. The Nifty was up 116.20 points or 1.5 percent at 7671.40. About 1472 shares have advanced, 1107 shares declined, and 128 shares were unchanged. 

                                               
Hindalco, Adani Ports, BHEL, Bharti Airtel and Wipro were top gainers while Lupin, Dr Reddy's Labs, Cipla and M&M were losers in the Sensex.

Sensex, Nifty open marginally higher; Bharti, Sun Pharma lead --- 11 April 2016

The market started off week on a flat-to-positive note. The Sensex rose 41.81 points to 24715.65 and the Nifty advanced 13.35 points to 7568.55.

                                             
Bharti Airtel topped buying list on Sensex, up 3.11 percent after acquisition of 4G spectrum rights from Aircel for 8 circles for Rs 3,500 crore.

BHEL rose 1.6 percent after a media report indicated that NTPC’s Bangla JV awarded EPC contract to company for USD 2.4 billion. Sun Pharma was up 1.44 percent on USFDA approval for BromSite. 

ONGC, Adani Ports, Tata Motors and Idea Cellular were other gainers while Infosys, Cipla, M&M, HDFC, Tata Steel, Asian Paints, Wipro and BPCL were losers. The Indian rupee opened lower by 3 paise at 66.50 per dollar today against 66.47 Friday.

The 30-share index was trading at 24,698, up 25 point or 0.10 per cent. It touched a high of 24,791.36 and a low of 24,693.87 in morning trade.

The Nifty50 was trading at 7,564 up 10 point or 0.12 per cent. It touched a high of 7,580.80 and a low of 7,562.60 in the first 30 minutes of trade.

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.30 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.33 per cent higher.

Bharti Airtel (up 3 per cent), BHEL (up 1.6 per cent), Sun Pharma (up 1.4 per cent), ONGC (up 1.4 per cent), and Adani Ports (up 1 per cent), were the major Sensex gainers 

M&M (down 1 per cent), Infosys (down 1.03 per cent), Cipla (down 0.75 per cent) and Asian Paints (down 0.73 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.

Markets Weekly: Sensex sheds 595 points; Ashoka Buildcon, Coal India hit new 52-week low -- 9 April 2016

                                            
Domestic benchmark indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty plunged over 2 per cent this week despite a rate cut of 25 basis points by the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). For the week ended April 8, the 30-share index shed 595.80 points at 24,673.84, while the 50-share index lost 157.85 points at 7,555.20.


  Among the 51 stocks in the Nifty pack, 34 components ended the week in red with Adani Ports falling 9.82 per cent. It was followed by Maruti Suzuki (down 7.69 per cent) and ICICI Bank (down 7.05 per cent).
On the other side, shares of Bharat Heavy Electricals Ltd, Lupin and Aurobindo Pharma advanced 5.45 per cent, 4.92 per cent and 3.70 per cent, respectively.
Sectorwise, the BSE Bankex plunged the most — 4.07 per cent. The BSE Auto and BSE FMCG index also slid by 2.35 per cent and 2.15 per cent, respectively, during the week under review. On the other hand, BSE Healthcare and BSE Power gained 0.71 per cent and 0.63 per cent.
In the BSE 500 index, Infosys, Ashok Leyland, Hero MotoCorp, Geometric, JSW Steel, Marico, EID Parry, Biocon and Cholamandalam Investment and Finance hit their new 52-week high.

Sensex flat, Nifty ends at 7555; Midcap outperforms, NTPC up 4% -- 8 April 2016

The Sensex is down 11.58 points or 0.05% at 24673.84, and the Nifty up 8.75 points or 0.12% at 7555.20. 

                                                 
About 1468 shares have advanced, 1052 shares declined, and 163 shares are unchanged.

The broader markets gained 0.6 percent as about 1468 shares advanced against 1052 declining shares on BSE.

Sensex, Nifty consolidate; Reliance, ICICI Bank, Lupin gain --- 8 April 2016

The Sensex rose 40.75 points to 24726.17 and the Nifty added 20.70 points to 7567.15. 

                                                 
The broader markets extended gains a bit with BSE Midcap and Smallcap indices rising 0.5 percent each. The market breadth remained positive as about 1225 shares advanced against 704 declining shares on BSE.

Reliance Industries, ICICI Bank, Lupin, NTPC, Dr Reddy's Labs, Hindalco, GAIL and BHEL were leading gainers on Sensex, up 1-3 percent while Infosys, TCS, HUL, Hero Motocorp, Axis Bank and Bharti Airtel declined. 

Oil prices edged up today, lifted by firm economic indicators from the United States and Germany which could support fuel demand, but analysts warned that crude markets were threatened by another downturn because of ongoing oversupply. 

Front month US West Texas Intermediate (WTI) crude futures were trading at $38.08 per barrel, up 82 cents from their last close. International Brent futures were up 67 cents at USD 40.10 a barrel.

Sensex, Nifty flat; Infosys, BHEL, Hero early losers -- 8 April 2016

The market started off last day of the week on a negative note, tracking weak Asian cues. The Sensex fell 45.88 points to 24639.54 and the Nifty declined 12.25 points to 7534.20. 

Technology stocks were under pressure while FMCG and private banks gained strength. 

                                             
Infosys, BHEL, Hero Motocorp, Tata Steel, Maruti Suzuki and Ambuja Cements were early losers, down 1 percent each while Dr Reddy's Labs, Tata Motors, Lupin, Coal India, NTPC, Tata Power and BPCL were gainers.

The 30-share index was trading at 24,685, down 0.03 point or 0.01 per cent. It touched a high of 24,695.10 and a low of 24,625.37 in morning trade. 

The Nifty50 was trading at 7,550 up 4 point or 0.05 per cent. It touched a high of 7,554.10 and a low of 7,530.95 in the first 30 minutes of trade.


The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.23 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.06 per cent higher. 

Dr Reddy's Laboratories (up 1.2 per cent), BHEL (up 1.2 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.2 per cent), Lupin (up 1.09 per cent), and ICICI Bank (up 0.58 per cent), were the major Sensex gainers.


Hero MotoCorp (down 1.1 per cent), Infosys (down 1.07 per cent), Maruti Suzuki (down 0.8 per cent) and Tata Steel (down 0.6 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.

Sensex slips 215 pts, Nifty ends at 7456 on lower Europe, oil ---- 7 April 2016

                                                   
The Sensex dropped 215.21 points to 24685.42 and the Nifty fell 67.90 points to 7546.45. The market breadth also turned negative in last hour of trade as about 1448 shares declined against 1107 advancing shares on Bombay Stock Exchange.







European markets were down marginally on fall in oil prices and ahead of European Central Bank meeting.

Sensex marginally lower, Nifty breaks 7600; HDFC twins drag -- 7 April 2016

The market fell marginally amid consolidation in early trade, tracking weakness in Asian peers. The Sensex declined 65.96 points to 24834.67 and the Nifty slipped 17.75 points to 7596.60. 

HDFC lost 1.6 percent after the company proposed to make additional one-time special provision of Rs 450 crore in Q4. 

                                             
 The 30-share index was trading at 24,839, down 61 points or 0.25 per cent. It touched a high of 25,013.13 and a low of 24,799.97 in morning trade. 

The Nifty50 was trading at 7,599.30 down 15 point or 0.20 per cent. It touched a high of 7,630.75 and a low of 7,588.60 in the first 30 minutes of trade.

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.21 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.24 per cent higher. 

Lupin (up 1.5 per cent), Axis Bank (up 1.4 per cent), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (up 1.2 per cent), Adani Ports (up 1.4 per cent), and Tata Steel (up 0.90 per cent), were the major Sensex gainers. 

Maruti Suzuki (down 1.5 per cent), HDFC (down 1.5 per cent), ITC (down 0.95 per cent) and Wipro (down 0.6 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.

Sensex, Nifty rebound; Lupin, M&M, Bharti Airtel lead gainers -- 6 April 2016

The market rebounded on Wednesday after yesterday's sharp sell-off. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 106.85 points to 24990.44 and the 50-share NSE Nifty climbed 34.85 points to 7638.05. 

ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, Lupin, Mahindra & Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, Bajaj Auto, Hero Motocorp, BHEL and Hindalco Industries gained 1-2 percent while Wipro, HDFC, Cipla and NTPC were losers. 

                                               
The Indian rupee marginally bounced back in early trade Wednesday after a steep fall in previous session. The currency has opened at 66.42 a dollar, up 4 paise compared to 66.46 a dollar on Tuesday.


The 30-share index was trading at 24,950, up 47 points or 0.21 per cent. It touched a high of 25,000.65 and a low of 24,923.37 in morning trade. 

The Nifty50 was trading at 7,611 up 11 point or 0.12 per cent. It touched a high of 7,638.65 and a low of 7,615.10 in the first 30 minutes of trade. 

BHEL (up 2.3 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.2 per cent), Lupin (up 1.2 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 1.2 per cent), and Bajaj Auto (up 1.2 per cent), were the major Sensex gainers. 

Wipro (down 0.81 per cent), Cipla (down 0.78 per cent), NTPC (down 0.3 per cent), HDFC (down 0.08 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.

Sensex dives 516 pts, Nifty ends at 7603 post RBI policy --- 5 April 2016

Equity benchmarks crashed 2 percent today due to slump in global peers and post RBI monetary policy. 

                                             
The Sensex shed 516.06 points to 24883.59 and the Nifty fell 155.60 points to 7603.20. About two shares declined for every share advancing on BSE.

ICICI Bank, Infosys, Tata Motors, SBI, Adani Ports and L&T were top five contributors to Sensex's fall, down 2-6 percent while only Lupin closed in green.


The Nifty50 came under pressure and was trading below its crucial support level of 7,650. The fall in the index was weighed down by losses in realty, consumer durable, banks, and auto stocks.

The broader market traded in line with benchmark indices with the BSE midcap and smallcap down by 0.70 and 0.5 per cent, respectively.

Asia drags Sensex 100 pts, Nifty holds 7700 ahead of RBI policy ---- 5 April 2016

The Sensex fell 127.66 points to 25271.99 and the Nifty declined 37.75 points to 7721.05. 

ICICI Bank, Tata Motors, ONGC, M&M, Hindalco, Bank of Baroda, GAIL and Idea Cellular were early losers, down 1-1.5 percent while BPCL, Power Grid Corp, Dr Reddy's Labs and HCL Tech were gainers. 

                                                   

The Indian rupee has opened marginally lower at 66.25 a dollar compared to 66.20 a dollar in previous session. 


The 30-share index was trading at 25,305, down 101 points or 0.37 per cent. It touched a high of 25,372.44 and a low of 25,245.46 in morning trade.

The Nifty50 was trading at 7,728 down 30 point or 0.40 per cent. It touched a high of 7,736.30 and a low of 7,715.35 in the first 30 minutes of trade.


The S&P BSE Midcap Index was down 0.19 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.22 per cent lower. 

HDFC (up 0.53 per cent), NTPC (up 0.46 per cent), Lupin (up 0.46 per cent), Cipla (up 0.23 per cent), and Dr Reddy's Laboratories (up 0.16 per cent), were the major Sensex gainers. 

Adani Ports (down 1.48 per cent), Bharti Airtel (down 1.4 per cent), ICICI Bank (down 1.38 per cent), Tata Motors (down 1.1 per cent), M&M (down 1 per cent) were the major Sensex losers.

Sensex rises 130 pts, Nifty ends at 7758.8; M&M, Bharti surge 4% --- 4 April 2016

Sensex up over 100 pts, Nifty reclaims 7750 on global cues ---- 4 April 2016

The market has started off week on a positive note, tracking global cues post US jobs data. The 30-share BSE Sensex rose 125.18 points to 25394.82 and the 50-share NSE Nifty climbed 38.15 points to 7751.20. 

                                           
Adani Ports, Tata Motors, BHEL, Dr Reddy's Labs, TCS, Tata Power and Idea Cellular were early gainers while ITC lost 2 percent.

The 30-share index was trading at 25,386, up 118 points or 0.46 per cent. It touched a high of 25,414.91 and a low of 25,322.36 in morning trade. 

The Nifty50 was trading at 7,749 up 36 point or 0.47 per cent. It touched a high of 7,756.35 and a low of 7,729.95 in the first 30 minutes of trade. 

The S&P BSE Midcap Index was up 0.41 per cent and BSE S&P Smallcap Index was trading 0.53 per cent higher. 

Adani Ports (up 2.3 per cent), Tata Motors (up 1.7 per cent), Bharti Airtel (up 1.5 per cent), Dr Reddy's Laboratories (up 1.3 per cent), and Infosys (up 1.1 per cent), were the major Sensex gainers.

Weekly Market Review: Sensex snaps four-week gaining streak; FIIs remain net buyers -- 2 April 2016

Domestic equity indices BSE Sensex and NSE Nifty ended the week with marginal losses and also dipped for the first time in the past five weeks. For the week ended April 1, the BSE Sensex dropped 67.92 points or 0.26 per cent to 25,269.64, while NSE Nifty shed 3.45 points or 0.04 per cent to 7,713.05.
                                        
In the Nifty pack, share price of Bharti Airtel plummeted the most — 6.21 per cent, followed by Hindalco (down 5.42 per cent), Mahindra & Mahindra (down 4.53 per cent) and HDFC (down 4.09 per cent). On the other hand, Bank of Baroda, Tata Power and ITC gained 6.15 per cent, 4.23 per cent and 3.62 per cent, respectively.
Sectorwise, the BSE Telecom index, BSE Healthcare and BSE Metal index slid 3.28 per cent, 2.19 per cent and 2.02 per cent in the previous five trading sessions. The BSE Realty index and BSE Power index jumped 2.74 per cent and 2.65 per cent during the week.

Sensex, Nifty snap 2-day gain; banks, infra stocks outperform -- 1 April 2016

The Sensex fell 72.22 points to 25269.64 and the Nifty declined 25.35 points to 7713.05.

 About 1709 shares have advanced, 825 shares declined, and 103 shares are unchanged.

Nifty opens April series on weak note, Sensex falls; HDFC sheds --- 1 April 2016

The market has started off April series and financial year 2016-17 on a negative note, tracking weak Asian cues. The Sensex fell 79.75 points to 25262.11 and the Nifty declined 30.05 points to 7708.35 on profit booking.

The Sensex was up 3.28 points at 25341.86 and the Nifty rose 3.20 points to 7738.40.
